I am one of eighteen attorneys serving in the Office of Counsel at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Seattle District. We are currently seeking a qualified applicant who is interested in serving as a generalist attorney advising in several of the following areas of the USACE legal practice: federal government procurement, USACE civil works programs and authorities, environmental law, regulatory law, employment law, administrative law, litigation, Federal Indian law, and hazardous waste remediation law. The Seattle District Office of Counsel is firmly committed to recruiting, retaining, and developing a diverse workforce, in order to better serve and advise our nearly 900-member organization in the Seattle and Greater Washington area, and to address the needs of the public who call Washington State home.
The Seattle District is a “full-service” district within USACE. A full scope of USACE civil works missions – including navigation, flood risk reduction, environmental restoration, fish passage, hydropower, and emergency response – is represented; there is a robust array of military construction projects throughout the Northwest; an expansive inter-agency support program; and the District has responsibility for the USACE Regulatory permitting program (Clean Water Act Section 404, Rivers and Harbors Act Section 10) in Washington State. The District also operates the Lake Washington Ship Canal, also known as the “Ballard Locks,” and three hydropower facilities on the Upper Columbia River. Due to the unique make-up of state and local governments, tribes, industry, and environmental organizations in the Greater Washington area, the Seattle District regularly encounters many issues of first impression that are not dealt with anywhere else.
Further information about the Seattle District can be found here:
