    Experienced Bank Litigation Attorney (Seattle)

     

    Miller Nash Graham & Dunn ("MNG&D") is seeking an experienced (8+ years) bank litigation attorney to join a demanding and rewarding team in its Seattle office.  Applicants should be wicked smart, able to carry on a normal conversation, and adept at discussing the dense language of UCC Articles 3, 4, and 4A with both clients and juries.  The position will involve representing financial institutions in disputes relating to deposit and investment accounts, lender liability claims, and fiduciary and trust claims, and applicants with experience in those areas are strongly encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, be dedicated to exceeding client needs and deadlines, enjoy working in a team environment, and come armed with a strong sense of humor.  First-chair trial and client management experience strongly preferred.  Current membership in the Washington State Bar Association or qualification for reciprocity is necessary.

     ABOUT THE OFFICE

    The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, located in downtown Tacoma, is the largest law firm in the county, employing approximately 212 staff including a large number of Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.  Pierce County, which includes Tacoma, has a population of 813,600 and growing.  The office has three divisions:  the Criminal Division, which is responsible for prosecuting all felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile criminal cases; the Civil Division, which is responsible for providing legal counsel to County officials and representing the County's interest in court; and the Family Support Division, which is an integral part of the State child support system.
     Position Summary:
    This position performs professional level work in the legal field as a Pierce County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Misdemeanor Division, handling all aspects of District Court criminal practice, from arraignments and pre-trial conferences, to trials and post-conviction hearings.  This is an entry-level position.  Duties are performed with professional discretion and within office guidelines, professional ethics and standards, and legal requirements.  This is an exempt, at-will, temporary position.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
     
    • Represents the State of Washington, in Pierce County District Court, in all criminal cases from arraignment and pre-trial conferences, to trial and post-conviction hearings. 
     
    • Independently manages a substantial caseload.
     
    • Prepares witnesses and strategy for trial.
     
    • Advises law enforcement personnel during the course of criminal investigations.  Conducts case review and provides feedback to law enforcement officers on legal issues impacting admissibility of evidence.
     
    • Performs other related work as required.
