We are seeking a Deputy Chief Health Law Judge to join our leadership team in the Adjudicative Services Office (ASO) within CFRA. Reporting to the Chief Health Law Judge, this role is vital in overseeing ASO operations and guiding Health Law Judges to ensure fair and procedurally sound legal decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of five Health Law Judges, ensuring excellence in legal judgment and due process.
• Operations: Partner with the ASO Operations Manager to manage hiring, training, personnel coordination, budgeting, and emergency response strategies.
• Case Review: Collaborate with CHLJ and Review Judges to uphold legal and procedural standards.
• Agency Strategy: Contribute to cross-agency guidance, strategic planning, and policy development to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

Compensation for this position will be determined based on the individual’s qualifications and experience. For second to fourth year candidates, the expected salary range is between $140,000 – $155,000, and includes opportunities for a quarterly non-discretionary hours stipend and a discretionary annual bonus.

The WA State Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals is recruiting for Industrial Appeals Hearings Judges.
Salary: $113,712 – 116, 556
Location: The recruitment pool will be used to fill vacancies as they occur statewide. Judges may work remotely except when an in-person hearing is scheduled.
Duies: The Hearings Judge presides over conferences and hearings where evidence is presented pursuant to Rules of Evidence and Superior Court Rules, and issues written decisions resolving appeals filed under the Industrial Insurance Act, Crime Victims Compensation Act, Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act, and other acts as determined by the Legislature.
Each hearing judge is assigned a hearing run by geographic area. The majority of hearings are held by either video or telephone. However, judges also hold in-person hearings by request of the parties or if the judge determines an in-person hearing is necessary for other reasons (i.e., the number of expected witnesses or exhibits). In-person hearings are held in the county where the injury occurred or injured worker resides.
