The Federal Bar Association is accepting applications for a Lawyer Representative position from the Eastern District of Washington to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Lawyer Representatives are appointed by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. The term of appointed is typically three years. Past Lawyer Representatives have found this to be a very rewarding and fulfilling professional experience. Any attorney admitted to practice in this District is encouraged to apply.
During their term of service, Lawyer Representatives attend the annual Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, held in the summer of each year. They are eligible to participate in various Ninth Circuit and District Court liaison activities and committees. About the Office: The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington has three offices. Job Description: The office currently has an Assistant United States Attorney position available in the Criminal Division, Yakima branch office. The attorney selected will be part of a dedicated team assisting in the enforcement and prosecution of federal criminal laws. The primary assignments for this attorney will be the investigation and prosecution of white collar fraud and economic crimes, but will also include a wide-range of criminal matters involving firearms, drug trafficking, immigration, counterfeiting, child exploitation, explosives, and violent crimes. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The branch office is located in the city of Yakima in central Washington. The Eastern District of Washington is comprised of 20 counties and is bordered by Canada to the north, Oregon to the south, Idaho to the east, and the summit of the Cascade Mountains to the west. This area is rich in rolling farm land, forested mountains, and arid desert. Because this area celebrates four distinct seasons, recreational opportunities are numerous and include, bicycling, hiking, snow skiing, water sports, fishing and hunting. About the Position
The Court Administrator guides a staff of 26 employees and oversees an annual operating budget of nearly $16 million. The Court Administrator is responsible for directing and coordinating all administrative and operational functions of the Court and allocating resources in a manner that maximizes efficiency in court operations and enhances service to the public. More specifically, this position oversees talent management, labor relations, facilities, probation services, the operation of the court rooms including docket preparation, case management, courtroom coverage, jury administration, interpreter services, court security, media relations, and ADA accommodation.
Under the direction of the Presiding Judge, the Court Administrator carries out the following functions:
· Provide visionary insight: Be able to translate the Superior Court’s strategic goals into both long and short-range plans that are comprehensive, realistic, effective and meet court requirements. Identify key opportunities resulting from data analysis. Develop and strengthen long-term strategies for the effective management and adjudication of cases.
· Facilitate change: Oversee the change management process, including successful communication strategies, involving others in the implementation of change and monitoring and reinforcing process and success. Create an environment for court employees that encourages original and innovative solutions. Identify and initiate court innovations.

For this important role, the Pierce County Superior Court seeks a dynamic, highly credible, unifying leader who is deeply committed to the success of the Pierce County Superior Court. Proven leadership experience is essential and candidates should bring strengths in both external relations and internal management with an ability to balance the two. The successful candidate will report directly to the Presiding Judge.
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, criminal justice, law, business administration or related field with at least seven years experience in a senior leadership role within a large and complex publicly accountable organization that involves leading a diverse staff and management of significant funds. The preferred candidate will have substantial executive court administration experience and experience using administrative best practices in local government and judicial operations. A master’s degree is preferred.
