    The Regulatory Services Counsel position is a temporary contracted position with a limited duration of approximately 6 months. The independent contractor is not entitled to any of the benefits that WSBA makes available to its permanent employees.

    This position conducts character and fitness reviews and analysis, investigations, and hearings for all applicants for admission, special admission, reinstatement, limited licensing, change of status, and the APR 6 Law Clerk program. They serve as a resource on character and fitness matters, review accommodation requests associated with exam applications, and serves as Presiding Officer or in another capacity at the Bar Exam.

    Education Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate or successful completion of the APR 6 Law Clerk program, with current license in good standing to practice law in Washington

    Education Preferred:

    • n/a

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum of 2 years active law practice experience required; experience must involve actual trial, administrative hearing, or alternative dispute resolution experience.

    Experience Preferred:

    • 5 years active law practice experience involving actual trial, administrative hearing, or alternative dispute resolution experience and/or experience as a prosecutor or public defender.
    • Personally, performing investigations or working with an investigator or investigative paralegal to conduct investigations.
    • Working in a regulatory agency or other position that requires frequently determining whether rules and regulations apply to specific applications or situations.
    • Working in a fast-paced environment with a heavy workload, tight deadlines, significant public contact, and frequent interruptions

    The City of Bainbridge Island invites applications from qualified attorneys who are interested in serving as the presiding judge of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court. The municipal judge is appointed by the city manager, subject to confirmation by the city council. The selected applicant will fulfill the term of the departing judge, which ends December 31, 2025.

    This is a half-time (20 hours per week) position.

    Pursuant to the requirements of Washington State General Rule (GR) 29, the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court judge must be responsible for leading the management and administration of the court’s business, developing and implementing policies and procedures that improve the court’s effectiveness, and allocating resources to maximize the court’s ability to resolve disputes fairly and expeditiously.

    The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors that violate city ordinances and state laws through adoption by reference. The court also has jurisdiction over civil infractions that violate city ordinances, Title 46 state traffic laws through adoption by reference, and other state laws that specifically confer municipal court jurisdiction. The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court is a federally-designated passport agent and processes 450 applications per year.

    The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court is staffed by a Court Administrator, two Senior Judicial Specialists and a part-time Judicial Specialist.

    The salary of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court judge is a pro-rated amount of the District Court Judge salary as established by the State of Washington Citizens’ Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. The City provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for the employee and any qualified dependents.

    Role Overview

    The Seattle office of Stoel Rives is seeking an associate with 4+ years of sophisticated construction litigation and contract drafting experience for its Construction and Design subgroup. You will work on a number of construction and design contracts, using different project delivery systems, as well as a wide variety of litigation matters related to construction projects, both public and private.

    The pay range for this position in the State of Washington is $220,000+; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This information is provided per Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunities Act. This salary range is based on market location.

    The Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Washington is currently accepting applications to its conflict panel, better known as the CJA Panel.
