Grays Harbor County Department of Public Defense is seeking to add a full-time defense dedicated attorney. The Department of Public Defense is making strides to transform the defense culture and increase defender diversity. The court and legal climate are changing. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Providing legal advice and guidance to clients.
Appearances before federal bankruptcy court judges in commercial bankruptcies (primarily Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters), and state court including but not limited to receivership proceedings as well as other commercial litigation matters related to judgment collection, liens, or voidable transfer litigation.
Drafting and/or supervising the drafting of memorandum, loan documents, court briefs, and other bankruptcy and receivership pleadings.
Participate in bankruptcy preparation and reporting requirements throughout the end-to-end lifecycle of case administration (filing preparation, bankruptcyreporting, claims support, and plan support).
Understanding of financial statements, valuation techniques, and bankruptcy and receivership codes and statutes.
Participating in state and federal receivership cases (whether moving for a
receiver for our secured lender clients or representing our receiver clients in
liquidating businesses or properties in other cases).
Creditors’ rights litigation including actions on guarantees, lender liability claims, and voidable transfer and preference actions.
Ability to maintain attention to detail and produce high-quality work.
Ability to work in a high-demand, fast-paced environment and meet short
deadlines.
Professional interaction with others in person, in virtual meetings, and through email and phone.
Must be able to spend long periods of time in a stationary position working at a computer workstation (sit/stand desk is available).
Secondary Functions:
Attend Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group and other meetings and firm

The Regulatory Services Counsel position is a temporary contracted position with a limited duration of approximately 6 months. The independent contractor is not entitled to any of the benefits that WSBA makes available to its permanent employees.

The City of Bainbridge Island invites applications from qualified attorneys who are interested in serving as the presiding judge of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court. The municipal judge is appointed by the city manager, subject to confirmation by the city council. The selected applicant will fulfill the term of the departing judge, which ends December 31, 2025.
This is a half-time (20 hours per week) position.
Pursuant to the requirements of Washington State General Rule (GR) 29, the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court judge must be responsible for leading the management and administration of the court’s business, developing and implementing policies and procedures that improve the court’s effectiveness, and allocating resources to maximize the court’s ability to resolve disputes fairly and expeditiously.
The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors that violate city ordinances and state laws through adoption by reference. The court also has jurisdiction over civil infractions that violate city ordinances, Title 46 state traffic laws through adoption by reference, and other state laws that specifically confer municipal court jurisdiction. The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court is a federally-designated passport agent and processes 450 applications per year.
The Bainbridge Island Municipal Court is staffed by a Court Administrator, two Senior Judicial Specialists and a part-time Judicial Specialist.
The salary of the Bainbridge Island Municipal Court judge is a pro-rated amount of the District Court Judge salary as established by the State of Washington Citizens’ Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. The City provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for the employee and any qualified dependents.
