About the Role
Approximately 75% of your work will focus on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. The remaining work includes real estate and business transactional matters through the firm's existing client relationships.
You will have direct client contact from the start and begin managing your own matters as you acclimate. You'll also have direct access to the firm owner for mentorship and support. Business development is not expected during your first year — the priority is learning the practice, serving clients well, and building strong relationships.
This is a flat-fee firm. Success is measured by the quality and volume of matters you complete, client outcomes, efficiency, and revenue generated — not billable-hour targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters from intake through completion.
- Draft and advise on wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, community property agreements, and related documents.
- Handle probate administration: court filings, creditor claims, inventories, and distributions.
- Advise trustees and personal representatives on estate and trust administration.
- Handle related real estate and business transactional matters, including deeds, purchase and sale agreements, and entity formation.
- Meet directly with clients, conduct signings, and guide families through personal and complex decisions.
- Keep matters organized and moving forward within a fully paperless, cloud-based practice.
Qualifications
- ~2–5 years of legal practice experience; estate planning & probate experience strongly preferred.
- Experience drafting estate planning documents and independently managing client matters.
- Small-firm experience is a plus.
- Active Washington State Bar license in good standing.
- Comfort working with diverse family structures, including LGBTQ+ and ethically non-monogamous clients.
- Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
- Comfort working within a fully paperless, cloud-based practice.
