POSITION DESCRIPTION

The City of Tacoma is looking for a skilled attorney to join the Prosecution Division of the City Attorney's Office. You'll prosecute municipal court cases, manage a high-volume caseload independently, and may also handle civil litigation to support broader City functions.

This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex legal matters quickly and professionally. You'll work alongside a dedicated team of attorneys and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the City.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Juris Doctorate

• Active membership in the Washington State Bar Association (or ability to obtain at time of appointment)

Desired:

• Trial experience in criminal law

• Ability to manage a high volume of cases

• Computer proficiency

• Principles and practices of criminal law

• Legal research methods and case analysis

• Organization and evaluation of case facts, evidence, and legal precedents

• Effective oral and written communication

• Skill in building cooperative working relationships
