    The Legal Affairs Division is currently seeking to fill a senior-level transactional attorney with life sciences experience. The attorney will work primarily on transactional legal matters in support of PATH’s Center for Vaccine and Innovation Access (CVIA). Working closely with CVIA staff, s/he will be responsible for addressing legal matters within core CVIA portfolios and report to the PATH General Counsel. 

     

    Responsibilities:

    ·       Operate as the primary legal contact for a subset of portfolios within PATH’s CVIA global program, assessing overall legal support needs and assignment of responsibilities in consultation with CVIA program leadership and PATH General Counsel.

    ·       Provide legal counsel and advice including risk assessment to CVIA program leadership and staff.

    ·       Provide legal counsel and advice on intellectual property matters to CVIA Director of Commercialization and commercialization staff.

    ·       Work with the CVIA staff to establish strong public-private partnerships in support of the mission of PATH.

    ·       Draft product development partnership agreements supporting vaccine development and commercialization e.g., collaborative research and development agreements, clinical study agreements, manufacturing agreements, and other technology-supportive third-party agreements.

    ·       Team with CVIA staff and leadership to negotiate agreement terms.

    ·       Manage scope and interaction with outside counsel in coordination with PATH General Counsel and CVIA leadership and CVIA Director of Commercialization, as appropriate.

    ·       Responsible for cost-effective provision of legal services in a timely and effective manner.

    Required skills and experience:

    ·       J.D. plus a minimum of eight years' experience to include: providing legal counsel to life sciences companies, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or biomedical firms, and transactional experience in drafting agreements addressing complex technology collaborations, clinical studies, and intellectual property licensing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ·       Licensed to practice law in the state of Washington.

    ·       In-house legal counsel experience.

    ·       Excellent written and verbal skills.

    ·       In depth understanding of scientific/intellectual property driven transactions.

    ·       Strong background in intellectual property matters as related to the pharma/life science practice.

    ·       Demonstrated experience in providing legal counsel and advice with strong risk assessment skills.

    The University Complaint Investigation and Resolution Office (UCIRO) investigates complaints of violations of the University’s non-discrimination policies, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.  UCIRO also investigates and responds to most charges of discrimination filed by individuals with external agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC), and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR).     The Investigation and Resolution Specialist, under the general direction of the UCIRO manager or his designee, acts as a neutral, objective fact-finder, and investigates alleged violations of the University’s non-discrimination policies and corresponding federal and state laws. The Investigation and Resolution Specialist may also investigate alleged violations of the University’s Code of Student Conduct related to sexual assault, stalking, relationship violence, and/or domestic violence.     Position Duties & Responsibilities:

    65% - Investigates complaints made internally within the University that assert violations of University of Washington policies, including: non-discrimination policies and sexual misconduct policies.  Prepares summary outlines and/or detailed written reports. Orally communicates investigative factual determinations and analysis to complainants, subjects, departments, and others with a business reason to know.  Evaluates and advises on potential exposure risk associated with complaints investigated. Investigates complaints filed with external agencies and charges against the University of Washington, including: complaints of discrimination (e.g. Title VII, ADEA, ADA, Title IX, etc.), retaliation, and harassment. Conducts investigations in accordance with state and federal laws, regulations and applicable case law. Provides agencies with detailed written responses and information that complies with agency standards. Assists with implementation of compliance agreements.  Participates in external agency fact-finding and mediation conferences as necessary.  Prepares witnesses for interviews with administrative agencies conducting on-site investigations. Evaluates and advises on potential exposure risk associated with complaints investigated.

    25% - Collaborates with University departments, Human Resources representatives, Assistant Attorneys General, and administrative personnel in handling complaints and related issues, as appropriate. Leads cross-departmental resolution teams in devising, refining and implementing appropriate and creative approaches to dispute resolution. Participates in investigation-related activities as necessary, such as testifying as a witness in internal proceedings related to employee or student misconduct. Negotiates settlements within delegated authority; obtains authority in excess of delegation, as appropriate and when necessary. Executes settlement agreements.

    7% - Maintains data consistent with data integrity standards at UCIRO and within Risk Management.

    3% - Other duties as assigned


    Requirements include:

    The Metropolitan King County Council hereby gives notice of judicial vacancy in the Northeast Electoral District of the King County District Court. The Council currently intends to fill this vacancy pursuant to state law and county code. To be eligible to serve as a district court judge in this position, an individual must be a registered voter and legal resident of the Northeast Division’s electoral district and a lawyer admitted to practice law in Washington State.  RCW 3.34.060; K.C.C. 2.68.075.  The election precincts that make up the Northeast Division’s electoral district are set forth in Attachment C to King County Ordinance 18886.  Pursuant to KCC 2.70.020, to be considered for appointment, a candidate must have a current rating of, at a minimum, “qualified” for a district court judicial position from the King County Bar Association and at least one other bar association operating in King County with an eligible judicial candidate evaluation process, as defined in KCC 2.70.020.F.2.  Under the County Code, ratings are “current” until the expiration date stated in the rating communication or until three years after the date the rating communication was issued if no expiration date is stated. Any individual wishing to be considered for appointment must deliver to the clerk of the council, in electronic form, the following:

    1.  A letter of interest, which must specify the division of the district court to which the applicant is requesting appointment and should explain why the individual wishes to serve as a district court judge, how the applicant is qualified to do so and specify the division of the district court to which the applicant is requesting appointment;

    The Congressional Research Service (CRS), American Law Division (ALD), seeks a Legislative Attorney to analyze legal questions that emerge from the work of Congress related to administrative law in particular and American public law generally. This is a non-litigating position emphasizing qualifications and interest in legal research and writing in a public service legislative context.

    The Legislative Attorney prepares objective, non-partisan analytical studies and descriptive and background memoranda and reports on legal issues of national significance; provides personal consultation and assistance to congressional committees. Members, and staff on legal issues throughout the legislative process; and participates in or leads team research projects and seminars. The incumbent is expected to develop over time the skills necessary to provide legal analysis and consultation to congressional committees. Members, and staff at increasingly sophisticated levels.

    Candidates with research experience in and broad general knowledge of legal issues regarding administrative law in particular and American public law in general; who demonstrate strong research, writing, and oral communication skills; and who possess a portfolio of high quality legal analytical writing are encouraged to apply.     The position’s primary focus is the broad area of administrative law.
