    Position Description:

    The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced attorney to provide legal advice and counsel to various businesses within the Boeing Global Services Commercial division. The successful candidate for this position will provide legal support to hardware product and software development and sales organizations as well as parts procurement.

    The Senior Counsel will report to the Chief Counsel for BGS-Commercial, and will be based in the Seattle, Washington area.

    Responsibilities

    ·       Contract interpretation, drafting and negotiation. Contracts range from hardware and software sales and distribution agreements, to procurements, and range in complexity from simple transactions to billion dollar transactions.  Assist business development teams and procurement and customer facing personnel with contract negotiation and some drafting. Provide risk-based legal assessment and advice concerning contract revisions and negotiations. 

    ·       Contribute to development of pro forma contracts.

    ·       Partner with executive leadership teams on legal issues faced by the business and devise strategies to mitigate risk.

    ·       Help structure collaborations with partners and participate in acquisitions and joint ventures from due diligence to post deal integration.

    ·       Analyze complex legal issues and provide clear and concise advice that is actionable by the business organization. Work with subject matter experts in export control, privacy, employment and others to balance overall needs of the business with specific subject matter concerns.

    ·       Determine Boeing's rights and obligations in disputes under its contracts with its suppliers and customers. Provide advice regarding pre-litigation disputes, including evaluation of claims, assessment of rights and remedies at law and under the contract, and negotiation and documentation of settlements.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Education:

    ·       Juris Doctor degree from top tier law school, with record of high personal academic achievement.

    Required:

    ·       Licensed attorney in good standing.

    ·       At least 7 years' relevant experience at a nationally recognized and well-regarded law firm or in-house experience at a global enterprise with a technology focus.

    ·       Extensive knowledge of general contract law and transactions, drafting contracts, conducting negotiations.

    ·       Experience in some or all of the following: intellectual property, the UCC, commercial parts and software distribution and licensing.

    ·       Strong client management skills.

    ·       Ability to quickly identify potential legal risks.

    ·       Be comfortable coordinating with various support functions within Boeing.

    Thurston County Public Defense (TCPD) is currently recruiting for TWO full-time Defense Attorney positions. A Defense Attorney practices in either District Court, Juvenile Court or Superior Court with moderate supervision from a higher-level defense attorney.  Immediate placement for these positions will be in District Court for Misdemeanor representation consistent with the District Court summary of duties below.

    District Court:

    • Manages a full misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor caseload. Prepares cases for trial, pre-trial and post-trial hearing and/or plea bargains the cases with the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.  Also, handles miscellaneous calendar duties such as arraignment calendars, initial appearance calendars and interpreter calendars.

    Superior Court:

    • Manages a full or partial caseload of B and C felonies. Prepares cases for trial, pre-trial and post-trial hearing and/or plea bargains with the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. Handles miscellaneous court hearings, including but not limited to, preliminary calendars, arraignment calendars and non-compliance calendars.

    Juvenile Court:

    • Manages a full caseload of parents in dependency and termination cases, including representation at all statutorily required hearings, conferences and family treatment court. Performs case evaluation, additional investigation, trial/hearing preparation, settlement negotiations, motions and trials.


    Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Reviews police reports, interviews witnesses, works with court and prosecutor to resolve cases.
    • Appropriately utilizes non-attorney professional services.
    • Reviews reports from DSHS, interviews appropriate parties, works with the attorney general, case workers, social workers, experts, court and related court personnel to resolve cases.
    • Performs a variety of legal office work, prepares appropriate legal pleadings, does necessary research, maintains required statistical information.
    • Maintains accurate and complete statistical information to be used for future needs and projections.
    • Performs other legal work as required.


    TCPD utilizes a holistic defense model. Holistic representation is a client-centered, community-oriented approach to criminal defense that is currently emerging as an effective and critical solution to challenges within our criminal defense system. Holistic representation is based on the principle that defense lawyers and staff need to take an interdisciplinary approach - at times beyond the courtroom - to best represent clients and to address underlying issues affecting contact with the criminal justice system.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduation from an ABA accredited school of law and must be a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
    • Knowledge of all criminal rules of Washington State, techniques of interviewing and preparation and defense of all variety of criminal cases, with emphasis on lower level felonies and all misdemeanors.
    • Knowledge of RCW 13.34, good communication with parents, legal custodians and guardians.
    • Ability to perform legal research; analyze and apply legal principles, facts, evidence, and precedents to legal problems.
    • Present law, facts, evidence and arguments clearly and logically in written and oral form.
    • Work harmoniously and maintain good public relations.

    This full-time, exempt position is a bargaining unit position, eligible for representation by Washington Legal Workers, our in-house labor union. Salary is commensurate with years of experience, based on a scale governed by our collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for an attorney with 0-7 years of experience is $55,000 - $72,300 including an annual cost-of-living adjustment. We also offer a comprehensive compensation package with 15 paid holidays, between 15-21 paid vacation days, 12 sick days, and between 3-5 personal days each year, as well as paid parental and family medical leave benefits and a partially-paid sabbatical every 7 years. We pay 100% of employee premiums for excellent health, vision, and dental benefits plus 50% of the maximum out-of-pocket deductible and offer heavily subsidized family premiums. We also offer a 403(b) retirement benefit with employer contribution and a match, disability and life insurance, a subsidized transit pass, and an employee wellness program.
