UCIRO investigates complaints of violations of the University’s non-discrimination policies, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. UCIRO also investigates and responds to most charges of discrimination filed by individuals with external agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC), and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). The Title IX Investigation Office, which is staffed by the same personnel as UCIRO, investigates allegations against University students that may violate sexual misconduct provisions of the University’s Code of Student Conduct.
We have an outstanding opportunity for an Investigation and Resolution Specialist.
The Investigation and Resolution Specialist, under the general direction of the UCIRO manager or their designee, acts as a neutral, objective fact-finder, and investigates alleged violations of the University’s non-discrimination policies and corresponding federal and state laws. The Investigation and Resolution Specialist may also investigate alleged violations of the University’s Code of Student Conduct related to sexual assault, stalking, relationship violence, and/or domestic violence. Depending on the matter, the Investigation and Resolution Specialist may also facilitate the resolution of a complaint.
Duties & Responsibilities
65% - Investigates complaints made internally within the University that assert violations of University of Washington policies, including: non-discrimination policies and sexual misconduct policies. Prepares summary outlines and/or detailed written reports. Orally communicates investigative factual determinations and analysis to complainants, subjects, departments, and others with a business reason to know. Evaluates and advises on potential exposure risk associated with complaints investigated. Investigates complaints filed with external agencies and charges against the University of Washington, including: complaints of discrimination (e.g. Title VII, ADEA, ADA, Title IX, etc.), retaliation, and harassment. Conducts investigations in accordance with state and federal laws, regulations and applicable case law. Provides agencies with detailed written responses and information that complies with agency standards. Assists with implementation of compliance agreements. Participates in external agency fact-finding and mediation conferences as necessary. Prepares witnesses for interviews with administrative agencies conducting on-site investigations. Evaluates and advises on potential exposure risk associated with complaints investigated.
25% - Collaborates with University departments, Human Resources representatives, Assistant Attorneys General, and administrative personnel in handling complaints and related issues, as appropriate. Leads cross-departmental resolution teams in devising, refining and implementing appropriate and creative approaches to dispute resolution. Participates in investigation-related activities as necessary, such as testifying as a witness in internal proceedings related to employee or student misconduct. Negotiates settlements within delegated authority; obtains authority in excess of delegation, as appropriate and when necessary. Executes settlement agreements.
7% - Maintains data consistent with data integrity standards at UCIRO and within Risk Management.
3% - Other duties as assigned

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a bilingual (preferably Spanish-speaking) attorney to provide direct representation and other forms of legal assistance to individuals pursuing various forms of immigration relief. Initially this position will be based in the asylum unit of NWIRP’s Seattle office, with focus mainly on providing assistance to individuals seeking asylum and related forms of immigration protection. The position may shift to another unit within NWIRP’s Seattle office, and the staff attorney will continue to provide immigration representation to NWIRP clients specific to the particular unit’s focus.
The attorney will provide legal assistance to community members through: (1) direct representation; (2) individual consultations; (3) case referrals to pro bono attorneys; (4) self-help assistance in the form of community workshops; and (4) community education. The attorney will focus on representing individuals seeking asylum and related protections, but may work on other immigration matters.
Beginning annual salary is $64,201 for a licensed attorney with no experience and is higher for attorneys with specific types of experience. For example, for someone with 10 years of non-profit immigration attorney experience, the annual salary would be $87,624; 20 years = $103,889.
NWIRP is proud to be a unionized employer, and this full time position is covered by NWIRP’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Deputy Director serves as the program’s general counsel and is responsible for NJP’s effective and efficient administration and operations to ensure the delivery of high quality legal services to low-income individuals and communities.
The Deputy Director is a member of the executive leadership team, reporting to the Executive Director, and works in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Advocacy, and the Director of Finance to provide strategic, programmatic, and race equity leadership for NJP. The Deputy Director supervises the Operations Director, Human Resources Director, and Information Technology Director.
The Deputy Director carries out the duties of the Executive Director in the Executive Director’s absence.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Pacific Northwest Region (Region 10), Office of Regional Counsel (ORC) is seeking applications from attorneys for the position of Regional Criminal Enforcement Counsel (RCEC). The position is located in EPA’s Seattle, Washington, office and will be filled at the GS-13 to GS-14 grade level, depending upon qualifications and experience. ORC employs approximately 35 attorneys in the Seattle office, whose work spans environmental law issues in the geographic region of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, including over 270 Native Tribal governments.
The individual selected will be one of two attorneys responsible for all legal aspects of the federal criminal enforcement program within Region 10, including researching and resolving legal and factual questions that arise during criminal investigations and prosecutions involving the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and various other environmental statutes, as well as other criminal offenses under the U.S. Criminal Code.
The selected individual will work directly with agents from EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to develop cases and with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to draft complex legal memoranda, prepare discovery, indictments, plea agreements, search warrants, motions, trial briefs and other criminal litigation documents. The individual may be appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and in that capacity may assist with grand juries, case negotiations, hearings, and trials for various environmental criminal cases on behalf of EPA.
