SOCIAL MEDIA 101:  SHOULD LAWYERS USE  SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTAND NETWORKING?  IF SO, HOW?

This panel will discuss the various social media platforms and the advantages and disadvantages of using social media as a networking and business development tool with a focus on Facebook and Linkedin.  They will also discuss how to use social media and what to avoid when utilizing social media.

Lee Wang has been an expert and entrepreneur in online, mobile, and social media marketing and advertising for over 12 years. He founded FanZappy in late 2011 and is serving as its CEO. FanZappy offers a business-class social media management, marketing and acceleration services, uniquely designed for professionals and small & medium businesses. Prior to FanZappy, he founded Caliber Data in 2006 and established its breakthrough Pay Per Transaction™ advertising platform (sold to eBay). Lee joined Microsoft in 1997 and worked in the Windows and Online divisions as program manager and later marketing research director. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, a MS in Physics from Bowling Green State University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University.  Lee has published a number of professional articles and holds several US patents in his professional areas.


Lisa Cox came to Fan Zappy through social media, and began working with FanZappy Social Media Management in 2011.  Lisa is a strong “Connector” and a networker, by nature, training and personal fascination.  Lisa enjoys helping businesses connect, and to accelerate their social media effectiveness through FanZappy and the smarter application of networking skills.  She has over 30 years’ experience in sales and operations management.  She is an entrepreneur who has started and managed several small businesses, occasionally turning them into larger businesses.  She’s moved from sales and management of a multi-franchise video dating business to owner of a women’s health and fitness franchise, and spent 4 years in executive search in the banking and financial industries.

Carly Presho-Dunne is a social media manager who has worked for University Village, Windows Phone at AT&T, and local startup, Julep Beauty Inc. She graduated with a degree in economics from Occidental College in 2011 and has spent the last two years mastering all facets of experiential marketing with a particular passion for online marketing and Search Engine Optimization.
