UW Law Diversity Event 2025

Event Mission Statement

The DEI Panel and Reception is hosted by all affinity RSOs at UW Law as part of DEI Week. This event provides law students with the opportunity to engage with influential individuals in Washington’s legal community who embody diversity and inclusion. Our goal is to highlight the importance of equity in the legal sphere while showcasing the success of professionals navigating intersectional identities in their careers.

The event reflects UW Law’s core values: fostering diversity by creating an inclusive, welcoming space that supports all religions, people of color, LGBTQI individuals, and those with disabilities.

Event Description and Timeline

Event Format

• The first two hours will be an informal networking reception, allowing students to connect with professionals.
• A moderated panel discussion featuring seven diverse attorneys and judges will follow. The moderator will use a pre-prepared script with questions tailored to the panelists’ lived experiences.
• The event concludes with a Q&A session and informal mingling.

Timeline

• 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: Event setup
• 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Networking reception
• 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM: Panel discussion (including Q&A)
• 8:30 PM – 8:45 PM: Final Q&A
• 9:00 PM onward: Mingling and clean-up
