    Associate Attorney – Environmental


    Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. (HCMP) seeks an environmental attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join and help grow its thriving, nationally-ranked environmental practice. The ideal candidate must have a depth of experience working on sophisticated transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters involving contaminated property and application of the Washington Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Experience with, or demonstrable interest in, real estate transactions and development involving contaminated property, environmental insurance claims, and a willingness to take on a diverse range of fast-paced environmental matters are necessary components of this role.

    The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Office of Legislative Information Services (LIS) is seeking three legislative analysts to join its Legislative Analysis and Services Section (LASS). These legislative analysts will contribute to the Office of Legislative Information Services’ mandate to produce legislative information for the United States Congress.

     

    The legislative analyst applies specialized knowledge in multiple subject areas (e.g., criminal law, environmental law and regulation, international law, etc.) and comprehensive knowledge of the operations, rules, procedures, and organization of the United States Congress to the analysis of Federal legislation. Using these analytical skills, the legislative analyst will write authoritative summaries of Federal legislation in assigned areas. These summaries are mandated by statute and are utilized as authoritative resources by lawmakers, policymakers, academics, and members of the public who are seeking accurate, objective descriptions of both new and amended Federal legislation. Given the variable nature of workloads and congressional focus, successful legislative analysts are able to apply their critical skills to unfamiliar subject areas as needed.

    We are seeking Civil Rights Investigators to join SOCR's Enforcement team. As the Civil Rights Investigator, this role will be responsible for receiving complaints, investigating, and negotiating settlements involving Seattle's non-discrimination and civil rights laws. This role will be responsible for enforcing non-discrimination under local and federal laws in employment, housing, public places, and contracting as well as local civil rights protections such as Seattle's all-gender restroom ordinance, the ban on providing conversion therapy to minors' ordinance, the fair chance housing and eviction records ordinance, and the closed captioning ordinance. In addition to carrying a caseload, this role will also conduct trainings, participate in outreach, and provide technical assistance to educate the public on civil rights.

    Janet Chung was recently appointed by Governor Inslee to the position of judge on the Court of Appeals, Division I, and will be sworn in on April 25. She is seeking law clerks for an anticipated start date of April 25 (or as soon thereafter as practicable) for the term ending August 2023.  This position is open until filled, with priority to applications received by April 10.

     

    The Court of Appeals handles appeals from Washington courts of general jurisdiction in all areas of law, including criminal, civil, family, and child dependency matters. Judicial Appointee Chung seeks applicants with diverse personal and professional backgrounds who are interested in legal research, writing and appellate law. Candidates must be law school graduates or have completed the APR 6 law clerk program (or equivalent). Practicing attorneys are encouraged to apply. The law clerk salary is $73,073, with a 3.25% salary increase (COLA) effective 7/1/2022. Law clerks also receive state employee benefits.
